Metric chain is now more commonly used globally and favoured by many OEM’s around the world. Metric and Imperial chain share similar breaking-loads and can be fitted with an equal variety of slats and attachments.
Categorised as either M series or FV series, Metric chain is defined by the use of a smaller pin (whether hollow or solid) which results in a lower profile and wider gauge that some users attribute to providing greater stability and less wear.
Usually run continuously on systems with custom made steel-alloy sprockets, the chain is tailored to a specific application with the addition of slats or attachments that can either be supplied integral to the chain links, tethered or welded.
As one of the largest stockists of standard chain in the UK, we are able to call upon our vast stocks to respond to customer enquiries quickly and efficiently, with the flexibility to be able to customise to specific applications as required.
The extra width in the diameter of the M series means the diameter of the round parts can be reduced while still achieving the required breaking and bearing loads and, in turn, provides a longer-lasting & more efficient chain. The Metric M series is held in stock in our warehouse. Our Standard Metric Chain is measured in metric units, millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm) and metres (m).
The FV series of conveyor chain is wider than British Standard chains but narrower than M series metric chains. In comparison to the M series chain the roller diameter is also smaller but offers similar fatigue durability & load-bearing properties. The Metric din FV series is held in stock in our warehouse.
